Day 213

Last night of vacation. Back to reality tomorrow morning.

Check out two interviews I just recently did...

I also got proofs of my headshots today from Paul Gregory. Overall, I'm extremely happy with them. Once I pick the tops ones I'll post them accordingly.

As for tonight, to go out or not to go out?

Heros get remembered but legends never die.

Day 210

Ahem!

"O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee."

Enough said.

Day 209

If this was baseball I would've just striken out. Three boring posts in a row and you're out!

Finished up Christmas shopping today. Glad that's out of the way.

Went back to my alma mater to watch a basketball game. Things that have changed since I played:
  • Fans. When you win 7 consecutive division championships, with a combined record of 81 wins and 3 losses, the gym gets packed. On a Friday night you had to be there by halftime of the JV game or you weren't getting a seat.
  • Overall skill level. Back when I played our basketball team was top in the area. Football team not so much. Times have changed since it's the complete opposite now.
  • Shit-talking. We were like the bad boy Detroit Pistons of the late 1980's. We felt we had the game won before it even started. And we let the other team know it.
  • School spirit. Going to the games was something you looked forward to. Not just students but people in the community. "Let's go I-C-S!"
  • Up & down basketball. Best conditioned team in WNY. So we ran and ran and ran. A team may have kept it close for the first half but come the third quarter we'd make a patented 20-to-something run to blow the game wide open. Now it's a slow it down, grind it out type of play.
  • James L. Knowles Gymnasium. The past - Wooden bleachers that were manually pulled out. Chief logos on the wall. Plain looking court. Cloth banners with championship years sewn in. The present - Plastic, electronically operated bleachers. No more Chief logos (some find it offensive). Red, white, and blue court. Silk screened banners.

It was good to go back but I'm glad I don't play for them now. From 1997-98 to 2003-04 playing for Iroquois felt like it meant something. Think about playing for the Buffalo Bills in the early 1990's. Now think about playing for them now? Quite a difference. We were the tough, hard-nosed white kids from the farm lands who could play. Our age version of Hoosiers.

That was my day. Possibly going to a bar tonight to meet friends. No big deal but my parents used to go to this bar when they were in highschool. So does this make me a loser since I'm going to the same place they went to? Or does this make them cool since my friends and I are going?

Have a good night.

I've never had a "green" Christmas. Don't think I ever want to.
